I grew up in Mississippi without AC. Being hot was normal in the Summer. I slept next to a window so as to get the breeze from the attic fan. We'd work in my Uncle's garden down in Mt Olive in the noonday Sun and think nothing of it.
When I was in Army ROTC camp at Ft Knox in 79, it was an exceptionally hot June. They kept us outside in the Category 4 heat doing strenuous things, and the NCOs remarked, "Kids this heat ain't nothing like what we had in Vietnam.".
We've gotten too soft here in the good ole USA. Our kids and grandkids are gonna learn what hardship is very soon and it's worse than being called the wrong pronouns.

As to hot, never plugged levees in a rice field but I did rack tobacco 2 stories up in a curing house in NC one summer. That experience was placed in the 'do not repeat' bucket along with reroofing and ex-wives are expensive.

It's not like elections are anything other than theatre at this point, and obviously so. My prediction, based on the assumption that the Trump saga has already been written by a pro-wrestling aficionado:
-Trump will go to prison.
-Whoever wins in 2024 (and it might be Trump) will pardon Trump.
-'Punished Trump' (might have actually lost an eye in a prison shanking) will then do a heel turn, becoming uber-globalist super-villain for the Right.
-The Left will now be cheering him, much like they cheered Bush2 when he did his heel turn to denounce Trump and praise HRC.
